Understanding the impact of employee commuting on a company's carbon footprint is essential in the journey towards sustainability. This category encompasses emissions generated as employees travel between their homes and workplaces.

Collect home to work travel data

To accurately calculate your company's employee commuting emissions, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of the transportation modes used by your employees to travel from home to work. Emissions can originate from a variety of sources, including:

  • Private and company vehicles

  • Trains

  • Buses, trams, and metros

  • Cycling and walking

Collect working from home data

In the current work environment, numerous companies permit employees to work remotely for one or more days each week. According to the GHG Protocol, businesses are required to account for emissions, which predominantly originate from energy consumption in employees' homes. Within Coolset, simply input the average number of days employees work from home per week, along with the total number of remote employees, and we will handle the calculations for you!

Note: If this data is not readily available in your HR system, or if you're unsure about making an accurate estimation, we can assist by providing a Google Form. This form can be distributed to your employees and includes all necessary questions to collect the information required for calculating these emissions effectively.
