To effectively measure and manage your company's carbon footprint, incorporating comprehensive data on gas and electricity consumption is vital. This brief guide outlines the steps necessary to add your gas and electricity consumption data to Coolset.

Gas consumption data

Gas consumption is a key component of Scope 1 emissions, which pertain to direct emissions from owned or controlled sources. To input your gas consumption data:

  1. Gather your monthly or yearly gas consumption records, measured in cubic meters (m³).

  2. Access the activity inputs section on Coolset for entering gas consumption data.

  3. If applicable, choose a tag. Enter the gas consumption figures for each month (or for the year, if preferred) in the provided fields. Start date and gas m3 are mandatory fields.

  4. Once all data is inputted, click the "Upload and Save" button. Coolset will automatically calculate your Scope 1 emissions based on the gas consumption data provided.

For organizations managing multiple locations, resulting in extensive gas consumption records, utilizing a CSV file for data upload is recommended. To proceed, select 'Upload' to download the template, input your data using Excel, and then re-upload the completed file on the same page. This streamlined process ensures efficient and accurate data management across various sites.

Electricity consumption data

Electricity consumption falls under Scope 2 emissions, which are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity consumed by the organization. It's similar to uploading your gas consumption, see video above. To add your electricity consumption data:

  1. Collect your monthly or yearly electricity consumption records, measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

  2. Navigate to activity inputs section on Coolset for electricity consumption data entry.

  3. Input your electricity consumption figures for each month (or the annual total) in the fields provided. Incorporating a vendor is crucial because, when they supply green energy, your energy-related carbon emissions can potentially reach zero.

  4. After entering all the data, click "Upload and Save." Coolset will automatically compute your Scope 2 emissions from the electricity consumption data you have supplied.

Consumption per location using a tag

You can input gas and electricity consumption data for each tag, such as location. When differentiating between locations using tags, be sure to select a tag before entering consumption data. If you need to upload data for multiple locations, you must do so in multiple steps. Start with location one, save the data, and then proceed to location two, and so on.

Please note: that adding a new tag directly from this page is not possible. To create a new tag, kindly reach out to your success manager for assistance.
