How to export your transactions from the Coolset platform?

Last updated: November 20, 2025

Need a deeper look at your emissions data? You can easily export all the transactions used in your carbon calculations for further analysis, audits, or integration with internal systems.

Where to export your data

You can export your data from the Analytics page in Coolset.
Any filters you've applied like scope, vendor, or ledger, will also apply to your export. This means your download will match exactly what’s shown in your filtered view.

File format and how to open it

Exports are delivered as a .csv file. To open it in Excel:

  1. Go to the Data tab in Excel.

  2. Select Get Data → From Text/CSV.

  3. Browse to your exported file.

  4. Click Load to import the data.

Once imported, you'll be able to work directly with your transactions.

What’s included in the export

Each row in the file represents a transaction and includes:

  • Transaction details (description, ledger name, date)

  • Volume and unit (e.g., €100 or 10 kg)

  • GHG category

  • Emission factor info (including multiplier, database, and source year)

Why you might see duplicate transactions

In some cases, your export may contain what appear to be duplicates. Here’s why:

1. Monthly splits

If a transaction spans multiple months (e.g., energy bills), Coolset spreads the emissions evenly across the period.
For example, if a transaction covers Jan–June 2025, you’ll see six entries—one per month—with emissions divided equally.

2. Tag-along emissions

Some transactions include tag-along emissions (typically Scope 3), which account for indirect emissions like fuel production.
In these cases, Coolset creates a second entry with:

  • The same description

  • A different (usually lower) “well-to-tank” emission factor

  • A Scope 3 classification

Not all transactions behave the same

Some have start/end dates or tag-along emissions—others don’t. That’s why only certain entries are duplicated in the export.

In summary:
Your export provides full transparency into how emissions are calculated and categorized, including monthly splits and indirect Scope 3 data. This ensures your footprint is both accurate and auditable.
